Challenge
The largest challenge of this project was balancing a time deadline with the enormous amount of detail we had to do (LOD 450). You're familiar with Scan to BIM projects having these enormous point cloud datasets, right? Well, we had to read them very carefully to ensure our models were perfect. And getting the architectural, structural, and MEPF systems to communicate with each other meant we actually had to coordinate everything well and pay close attention to the details to get all the systems coordinated.
The project was further complicated by a client requirement for as-built drawings that needed the final output to precisely duplicate the site conditions.
Our Approach
Thus, they assigned three BIM professionals in a team to complete the project within 15 days without compromising the quality.
Point Cloud Data Processing: Processing raw scan data in step one gave a solid foundation to the BIM model. Using advanced software, we thoroughly cleaned and interpreted the point cloud data to get all the information of the building.
High-Level Detailing (LOD 450): The model was built at LOD 450, and it not only possessed geometrical accuracy but also fabrication-level data. This rendered the model construction-ready or renovation-ready. Integrated Modeling: Architect, structure, and MEPF elements were modeled in an integrated manner so that all the systems were coordinated. Integrated modeling minimized the likelihood of clashes and enhanced overall model accuracy.
As-Built Drawings:After we finished the model, we produced some as-built drawings to provide the client with a precise and clear idea of what the site looks like today.
Results
The project was successfully executed within the 15-day timeline, giving a highly detailed BIM model and accurate as-built plans. Coordination of architectural, structural, and MEPF systems made coordination simple, giving the client a clear image of the building's current conditions.
Accuracy: The LOD 450 model provided fabrication-ready data, and there were no missing information.
Time Efficiency: Despite the complexity of the project, the team remained within the timeline.
Client Satisfaction: The client was provided with deliverables that fully met and even exceeded what they were anticipating, which enabled them to go ahead with the next phases of their project without worrying.
